Business Unit Manager Spares & Consumables for Manufacturer

of High Tech Machine Tools

 

 

Our client is a well established manufacturer of High Tech machine tools based in the Chicago area. Due to its emphasis on constant research and development, combined with a strong service and process approach, the company has been able to double its turnover in the recent years. It is continuously expanding its businesses, now being among the top players of its segment in the U.S., with growing market share also in South America, Europe and Asia.

 

Position

 

For its headquarters in the Chicago land, our client is currently recruiting a Business Unit Manager Spares & Consumables. In this growth oriented and entrepreneurial position you will be in full charge of the highly profitable business unit, covering the sales areas of the US, Canada and Latin America. A team of 3 outside sales people as well as 4 inside sales staff (handling internal administration) will be reporting to you and assisting you in these matters. Amongst others, your main tasks and responsibilities will be

 

-  to manage and develop your team towards a high degree of customer orientation and continuous sales results,

 

-  to develop and pursue new market opportunities in the field of spares & consumables

and related after-market matters,

 

-  to run the daily operations of your department and continuously improve the

efficiency of all relevant processes

 

-  to provide sales and revenue forecasts to the executive management

 

-  to ensure appropriate inventory levels and warehousing processes for all trading goods

 

Additionally, it will be your responsibility to build up and develop sales and distribution structures in Latin America. You will be reporting to the President and will enjoy a high degree of entrepreneurial freedom to ensure the continuous success and further growth of the company. An attractive compensation package, a stock option plan, 401(k) etc. reflect the importance attributed to this position.

 

Qualification

The position requires degrees (or a strong understanding) in engineering and business management. Technical expertise and sales experience in the machine tool market (preferably metal precision machining) would be advantageous for this position. Outstanding people management skills, a successful track record in running an after-sales or service unit plus an innovative and target oriented approach will be more than helpful. Attributes like a strong character, target drive, a team leader and an aptitude to take responsibility ought to describe your personality well.
