Associate Process Engineer

In addition to sales offices in North America, the company has a sales presence in Italy, Switzerland, Hong Kong and Belgium to serve global customers.As the Associate Process Engineer, your responsibilities will include but not limited to:Daily Unit Monitoring and Troubleshooting - Verify unit health by reviewing Daily Monitoring Sheets, lab data, and current Pi trends- Keep current on Production Team issues by reviewing Logbook, Production Loss, and Console Action Plan deviations- Participate in Daily Optimization Meeting and resolve assigned issues- Monitor and optimize unit operations and energy performance- Understand unit constraints and recommend alternatives to maintain process capability- Maintain unit mass balances within acceptable limits- Monitor deviations and make recommendations to the Production Team for chemical usage and performance of chemical treatment systems- Set technical limits for unit/system Key Process Relaiblity Environmental Perimeter's Unit Performance Optimization/Process Capability - Monitor long-term energy performance for key process equipment and systems. Make recommendations to maintain process capability - Monitor long-term catalyst activity, salt/chloride performance, clay treater aging, etc - Track long-term performance of key process equipment (e.g., exchangers, compressors, desalters, distillation towers, pumps, etc.) and quantify benefits for repair/replacement. Develop monitoring tools as needed - Produce a monthly unit performance report that properly communicates unit process capability - Work with Production Coordinator, Optimizer, and Refinery Shift Manager to plan and conduct unit test runs- Provide technical support for process and contingency planning as needed- Support and develop process enhancement projects.Constraint Management - Lead the catalyst selection process and make technical recommendations for catalyst loading/treating requirements - Supply yield information to Short-Term Planner to generate Linear Plan vectors EH&S Responsibilities - Participate in Process Hazard Analysis updates, Root Cause Failure Analysis's, Project Mangement Guideline, etc. as required- Incorporate good safety and environmental practices in all process recommendationsTurnaround Support - Fulfill the Process Technical Support role in the Event Management SystemWork Experience & Skills Required:- 0-2 years experience in a petroleum refinery or chemical manufacturing facility - Must have strong computer skills. Individual must be proficient at analyzing data and possess strong trouble-shooting skills regarding process units- Must have strong ethical beliefs, safe work habits and be environmentally principled. Should have fundamental economic skills and an attitude that drives decision making from an economic point of viewWork Experience & Skills Preferred:Previous internship with petroleum refinery or chemical manufactoring facilityEducation Required:Bachelors Degree in Chemical EngineeringPhysical Demands or Unusual Working Conditions:Climbing ladders and providing process equipment internal inspection in confined spaces as required (non-routine).
