 Associate Director, Category Manager is responsible for implementing strategic category management plan for assigned category to drive increased sales and profit for both brand and retailer.

 Develop this plan working with Director, CM & BA, appropriate CDM and Manager of Business Analytics. 

 


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

 1. Develop and implement Strategic Category Management for Assigned Business ; Work with Director, CM & BA to incorporate business specific solutions into integrated Aisle Management Projects

 2. Manage and Develop National Category Manager(s)

 3. Develop best in class planogram for assigned business to improve sales and profitability of the section.  Work with marketing and CDM to own SKU priority lists and best practices for field sales objectives and strategies

 4. Develop expertise in Category Management throughout the organization on assigned business by working with Manager, Sales Technology on relevant tools for Field and HQ based category managers.  Develop educational materials for field sales on assigned category.

 5. Address marketing teams and senior management key questions; define business priorities and opportunities.

 6. Support key customers by working with field teams to develop account presentations

 7. Manage data provider and other 3rd Party Suppliers (i.e. Space Planning Software) assigned to business including timelines, contract deliverables and ad hoc projects to improve ROI of annual spend.

 8. Maintains a high level of industry, category, customer, consumer and nutritional science expertise

TITLE: Associate Director, Category Management

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Works independently with minimum supervision

 

SUPERVISION GIVEN:

National Category Manager(s) – Either 1 or 2 per Business, total of 4 direct reports.

 

FINANCIAL/STRATEGIC IMPACT:

·  Responsible for self and contributing to department financial / cost savings initiatives; Can recommend projects from syndicated budget, but does not manage the budget

·  Develops strategic plan to improves sales, share of shelf, and profitability

·  Primary owner for category management strategy for assigned business

 

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

·  College degree preferred or equivalent experience

· Travel Requirements - up to 20%

 

EXPERIENCE:

·  5-7 years CPG category management experience

·  Sales and / or Analytic experience preferred

·  Wal*Mart Experience

 

SKILLS:

·  Strong communications skills, both oral and written.

·  Ability to analyze, interpret and develop recommendations.

·  Training and experience in the following areas:
