Scope:

 

Spin Master is seeking a Project Engineer to manage the development of exciting new toys.  This job is located in our expanding Los Angeles office located at West LA.  The engineer will manage projects from concept start to production while collaborating in a team environment.  The primary function will be to provide technical guidance during the preliminary design phase and then transfer new concepts to our development teams in Asia.   



Responsibilities:

 

· Review concept sketches and provide technical support for products in the preliminary design phase.  Design solutions need to balance cost, schedule, and functional requirements.

· Estimate product costs and guide the team to meet cost targets.

· Prepare design turnover packages to successfully transfer projects to Spin Master engineering groups in Hong Kong and China.

· Work closely with these engineering departments to ensure preliminary design turnovers are feasible for manufacturing.

· Continue to interface with these groups and vendors throughout product development, tool build, and production start.

· Assist Manufacturing/Engineering in trouble shooting products, including on–site support as needed.

· Act as liaison between the Los Angeles team and overseas locations throughout the product life cycle.

· Maintain project schedules to meet sales objectives.

· Stay current on relevant technology.



 

Qualifications:

 

· Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent degree) and 2+ years of relevant experience in the consumer products industry.

· Demonstrated ability to provide strong leadership to drive innovative yet cost-effective design solutions.

· Must have a thorough understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.

· Knowledge of plastic materials and plastic part design.

· 3-D CAD experience is a plus.

· Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.

· Must be able to manage multiple projects and thrive in a fast paced environment.

· Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands.
