ETI seeks a Water Quality Scientist

As a Water Quality Scientist you will focus on studying the characteristics of source water organic matter before and after coagulation/flocculation/sedimentation and the characteristics of filtered water organic matter through biofiltration. You will utilize bench top, pilot plant and full treatment plant to study the effects of ozonation and biofiltration on the settled water organic matter on its characteristics, reactivity and its biological transformation in the biological filters and their reaction with chlorine and chloramine. You will evaluate current coagulation, flocculation and sedimentation regime and the effectiveness of current coagulant and coagulant aids in removing color and organic matter. And you will assess additional coagulant aids and filter aids on the market.

Requirements:
- A Masters or pre-Ph.D.
- Previous research experience in water quality and treatment studies on organic matter characterization, its removal processes, disinfection byproducts and related studies.

This position is currently slated to go through the end of June 2009.  After June 2009 there is a possibility that it will become a full-time Government opportunity and qualified candidates will be encouraged to apply.
