Sr Estimator/Pre Construction - MN

Primary Responsibilities:   The position will report directly to either the Chief Estimator and/or Pre-Construction Director. The role of the estimator will be to provide detailed conceptual estimates from preconstruction schematic and design documents and detailed construction estimates from construction plans and specifications. The candidate must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the construction field, in addition to having the ability to take abstract concepts and express in them in cost, time and quality measurements.   Responsibilities will include the following, but will not be limited to: ?  Review plans and specs. Understand and apply constructablility of project to the estimate format and costing. Discuss and establish bid strategies, concerns and advantages. ?  Monitor field production to establish data base pricing. Complete pricing and take-offs for MHC scopes of work. Review pricing and take-offs prior to pre-bids. Set up bid spreadsheets ?  Establish work scopes for subcontractors. Define major or priority subcontractors. ?  Monitor coverage and solicit new subcontractors. Improve existing subcontractor relationships. Assist Plans Coordinators in sub coverage for bids. ?  Help to set goals for your area as they pertain to percentage of award, accuracy of takeoffs, completeness of scopes, coverage, etc. ?  Must be able to lead an estimate and take full charge of either a conceptual or hard bid. ?  Provide technical estimating support for assigned projects. ?  Quantify takeoffs for assigned bids. ?  Assemble accurate General Conditions costs. ?  Create bidding level schedules.. ?  Ability to schedule timeframe for bid periods. Bring all reviews of documents and completion of the estimate to closure prior to bid day. ?  Provide Team Leadership for assigned Project bid closings. ?  Demonstrate competency during bid closings, accurate and thoughtful organization and scope comparison of subcontractor and vendor bids. ?  Correspond with architects/engineers during bid process. ?  Assist in buyout process. ?  Provide estimating support to other company divisions as required.

Qualifications include: ?  Bachelor's Degree preferred. ?Minimum 6 years related experience or equivalent in estimating ?  Be familiar with and operate estimating software (MC² preferred and a plus) ?  Provide integrity to the overall bidding and estimating process. ?  Proficient in detailed estimate organization and take-off - Versed in conceptual estimating/schematic estimating. ?  Strong familiarity with project schedules and durations for all types of facilities. ?  Always aware of current “bid” market conditions - Understanding of competitor’s strengths and weaknesses and strategize against them. ? Strong knowledge of estimating principles and policies ?  Team player with field supervision, project management and company administration staff. ?  Ability to remain calm, focused and effective under time pressure situations.Job Code : 93 Division/Department : A&P Travel Required : None Skills : Engineering -> EstimatingConstruction -> Project ManagerArchitecture -> Shop DrawingsCustomer Service -> Phone Support
