Utility Parnters of America is looking for 10 installers to work outdoors upgrading utility meters - electric and gas with "automatically read" technology.  Must be willing to travel up to 3 months Monday - Friday while working in Columbia and/or N. Augusta and lodging will be paid for while traveling (able to return home on the weekends).  After the traveling assignment, then must reside on your own in Charleston to continue to work for UPA. 

 

Overall Job Duties:Installation of AMR technology on electric meters and/or retrofitting gas meters with AMR capabilities. Accurately reading and recording meters and meter ID numbers.Maintaining a clean company vehicle.Adhere to company policies including but not limited to meter installations, driving, attendance and customer service.

RequirementsAbility to learn Handheld computer, various hand tools, cellular phone and GPS systems for locations. Good customer service delivery. Professional communication with management and team members. Able to accurately read meters and handheld information.Must be able to pass a basic vision test. Ambulatory 90% of the day in an outside environment replacing meters at various heights and locations. Able to pass a Motor Vehicle records check for the past 3 years and continuously during employment. No more than 3 traffic violation tickets in 3 yrs. Must have a clear criminal background check for the past seven years and no felonies at any time.  Must be able to pass the Criminal background checks that are continuously done during employment. Pass standard ten panel drug screen pre-employment and submit to random testing for length of employment. Able to work Overtime as needed. Ability to safely lift 40 lbs, stand, stoop, and kneel throughout the day to complete assigned work.

 Task descriptionWork outside in varying temperature conditions (extreme heat to extreme cold). Work in various inclement weather conditions (rain, sleet and snow). Install meters as assigned utilizing the technical training and safety knowledge provided by UPA. Tracking personal inventory for balance each day. Work schedule is typically 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, M-F. Some overtime may be required.
