Communications Coordinator - Portland, Oregon

Conservation Services Group, Inc. (CSG) is a growing, dynamic, national non-profit company providing energy efficiency, renewable energy, and environmental services and products to private market customers, utility companies, government, and public benefit entities. CSG is dedicated to helping reduce the environmental impact of energy usage for both residential and commercial customers. CSG holds a contract with Energy Trust of Oregon to deliver energy efficiency services for existing homes and multifamily properties in Oregon. Energy Trust's programs include providing financial incentives for energy efficiency work on homes, maintaining a network of participating contractors, working with property owner and real estate professional trade allies, and providing consumer education and program marketing.

 

Current Job Opportunity Summary:
CSG is currently seeking a communications coordinator in its Portland, Oregon office for the Energy Trust of Oregon Existing Homes program. The communications coordinator will be part of the Pacific Northwest marketing team under the supervision of the Pacific Northwest marketing manager, based in Portland, Oregon. The communications coordinator is responsible for the design, development and distribution of customer education and marketing materials supporting an integrated marketing communications and advertising plan to promote consumer and trade ally awareness in participation in energy efficiency services offered by Energy Trust of Oregon.

The communications coordinator will be responsible for assisting in the development and execution of the marketing plan that includes, but is not limited to:

• Management of multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment. The candidate must have the ability to coordinate project materials with internal staff, clients and vendors. The candidate will be highly organized and capable of trafficking project materials to their designated due date and delivery
• In conjunction with the marketing team, the candidate will serve as the primary copywriter, designer and editor for marketing collateral and communication materials. Marketing collateral ranges from brochures to fact sheets and direct mail. Communication materials consist of program letters, newsletter articles, web content improvements, case studies and press releases. Adobe Creative Suite 3 experience and AP Style writing skills necessary. Excellent proofreading, fact-checking, editing and research skills
• Assist in project planning, scheduling, proofing and quality assurance. Coordinate the production and
• distribution of various communications. Must have experience working with outside vendors, including printers and mail houses
• Monitor and update content on the program Web site - www.energytrust.org
• Ensure consistent messaging, preserve brand standards and administer message quality (style/grammar) in accordance with our client's branding guidelines
• Create, coordinate and implement effective customer and market communications plans in support of
• programs, projects and initiatives
• Support the development of program training materials, tools and program presentations
• Create and distribute rollout communications for program updates, product enhancements, direct marketing programs and sales tools

• Carefully monitor communications response/readership data and other performance and marketing metrics. Help convene focus groups and conduct surveys to shape communications programs
• Establish and maintain a centralized archive of presentations, marketing materials and communications that is accessible to various functional groups internally

Applicants must have experience in residential construction or renovation, HVAC systems, and sales. Building Performance Institute (BPI) Professional Certification is a plus.

A strong writing and editing background is essential, as is attention to detail and the desire to be a team player. Positive energy and a commitment to protecting the environment will create a perfect match.
• Expertise with a wide range of communications practices including writing, editing, web communications, sales, advertising, public relations and public affairs
• Ability to work independently and to collaborate with team members and consultants as needed
• Proven project management skills with a demonstrated track record of managing significant communications activities. Must have experience meeting goals amidst competing priorities and tight deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with partners, customers and employees at all levels
• Ability to manage time, prioritize tasks and produce results under tight deadlines
• Adobe Creative Suite 3 experience and knowledge of AP Style writing
Qualifications and Experience:
The successful candidate must have a BA/BS in Business, Marketing, Communications or related field; 5 years of experience; excellent written and verbal skills; a background in client relations, advertising, public relations and marketing; ability to effectively influence and communicate ideas, highly organized with the ability to multitask, prioritize and problem solve in a deadline-driven environment, demonstrated ability to manage vendors and staff; experience working with senior executives; and knowledge of media, and graphic design concepts, including a high proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Creative Suite 3.


Salary: $37,000 to $42,000 commensurate with experience, plus 80% paid medical, 50% paid dental, paid Life, AD&D, STD & LTD insurance, generous paid leave time, paid holidays and employer match retirement plan.
