CONSTRUCTION Superintendent/Lead Carpenter - for Historical Preservation and Old Home Specialists

Superintendent/Lead Carpenter – for Historical Preservation and Old Home Renovation Specialists.
Landmark Services is proud to be one of the very few well-established, preservation oriented, old home specialists in the area. We’ve been in business for 17 years and have worked on structures that are over 300 years old (!), and on many other historically significant homes, barns and churches that have stood the test of time… some better than others, of course!
Due to a strong pipeline of work going into 2009, we’re now starting a search for an experienced working Superintendent to join the team.
We have three strong Lead/Super’s on the staff now… great guys who all get along well and form the foundation for a solid field crew. We have 6 full-time carpenters as well, and will probably be looking to add one or two more in the coming months.
All of our Lead/Super’s are on the tools at least part of the time. Really depends on the size of the job. We have projects that run into the $1MM-2MM dollar range, and on those the Supers tend to do less carpentry than on our $500K – 1MM jobs, but it all depends. All of our guys have a “get it done” approach and like being hands-on.
The other thing that all the current staff have in common is a lot of experience renovating old houses. As you can imagine, this is really a must, for us.
We have strong subs, and do sub out most of the trades, but like to keep the finish work in-house as much as possible… hence the need for our Supers to be skilled craftsmen as well as good supervisors. On some jobs you may be working with another Lead on his project… helping him out by feathering new claps into old. But we really need to bring someone on that can also run a job of their own, when needed, so versatility and a flexible approach are critical.
If I had to put it in rough order of importance, here’s the big stuff as we see it:
1) Lots of experience renovating old homes… the older the better.
2) Positive, can-do attitude. Zero patience for negative people or whiners.
3) Honest and reliable. We can handle the truth, and like to be around people who keep their word.
4) Great with Customers. Our PM/Estimator, Beth, is fantastic. All the guys love working with her, and Mark, the owner, is a down-to-earth, approachable guy who’s great to work for. Both of them do a lot of the front-end work with the clients, and both are involved on-going as projects get underway… but our Super’s are really the front-line of the customer experience for Landmark… so we need people who can represent the company professionally and with a positive attitude.
5) An ability to read and interpret plans.
Hope that gives you some idea of what we’re after.
If you think that this could be a fit for you then please shoot an email to: brian@landmarkservices.com You can also fax if needed: 781.932.6412
NO CALLS PLEASE. Sometimes people think this gives them an advantage in a competitive market. Unfortunately, it almost never does.
Truth is, the market is competitive for us too. We all have to step up our game. To that end, we will take your inquiry more seriously if you’ve taken the time to read this ad, and respond professionally and in detail. A complete resume, project list and photos all speak to this. Naturally, feel free to hit me with any questions you may have, too.
I’ve been working with Mark and the team at Landmark Services for over 5 years and can say from experience that we’ve never had such a good team on the ground as we do now, and the projects coming up are really cool.
We’d very much look forward to hearing from you.
All the best,
Brian
