Architect/Estimator

Dynamic Architect with Selling Skills needed for growing commercial subcontractor.  This is an excellent opportunity to join a strong, stable company that is committed to the well being of its customers and employees alike.

Responsibilities include review of construction drawings, developing takeoffs, preparing estimates in various phases - conceptual, schematic, preliminary, pre-final and final, and preparing bid documents for commercial prefabricated stairs for buildings over five stories and commercial/industrial rolling steel fire doors. Responsible for building relationships with architects and target accounts for products requiring typically long sell cycles.   Identify labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents. Estimate cost of materials and labor, both union and non-union jobs. Prepare RFI’s seeking clarification about bid process. Prepare project budgets and job cost break-outs. Review project’s general conditions and any special general requirements, to assure that the company meets bid requirements. Consult with clients, architects, engineers and other technical workers to make sure that design intentions are met. Generate final proposals based on established pricing formulas. Set annual strategic sales targets based on qualified projects.  

The ideal candidate has several years experience as a construction estimator and is well experienced in premium dollar construction estimates including estimates on commercial and civil structures.  We seek an individual who is motivated to work independently for results while maintaining close ties to the team,is computer literate with competent skills in MS Office, and is able to read and interpret blueprints and architectural drawings.  A degree in construction or engineering is preferred but not required.

The key requirement is experience with prospecting, qualifying and designing complex construction products into large commercial/industrial projects ($75M+) at the front end of the project cycle.
