ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER / MANAGER TRAINEE!

For over 50 years J&W Lumber has been the leader in San Diego’s lumber industry. J&W seeks a well qualified manager to join our team as an Assistant Store Manager. J&W Lumber will also consider a manager-trainee that can learn the responsibilities outlined below.

 

    The candidate will oversee the operations of one of our six lumber yards and store and will have a proven record in maximizing sales and profitability. The candidate will provide superior customer service and will teach their team how to provide that highest level of service.

The candidate will train their team and bring their team members to the next level.

 

    The candidate should be a “hands on� manager who can successfully implement company strategies and goals, understand corporate directions, and communicate those directions to their team.

           

ESSENTUAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES

Oversee writing of customer orders, delivery and mill orders and collection of payment.

Advise customers on lumber and hardware uses (i.e., decking, patio covers, etc.)

Oversee ordering and stocking of hardware and office supplies.

Order "special" orders for deliveries.

Update hardware and lumber prices.

Coordinate deliveries.

Maintain a good working relationship with customers, fellow employees

Conduct monthly safety meetings.

Maintain Pricing Integrity

 

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIANCE

Positive attitude!

Strong leadership skills.

Experience in managing payroll, inventory, loss prevention, hiring, training and employee development.

Strong record in increasing sales, making/exceeding sales goals.

Superior customer service skills.

Must be hands on!

Flexible and Adaptable.

Likes working in a fast paced environment.

Retail Store Manager experience or Assistant Store Manager experience preferred.

Lumber/ Building Materials experience a plus but not required.
