We currently have an opportunity for a Construction Project Superintendent with a minimum of 12 years of experience, with significant experience in managing all construction site activities for large water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, and/or desalinization plants. This position will be responsible for managing all construction activities at a large construction site including line management oversight of all construction personnel assigned to the site. The candidate should possess and demonstrate knowledge of construction means & methods, subcontract management, direct-hired labor management, and equipment utilization including production rates. Demonstrated line management responsibility for environmental, health, and safety performance is required. The position will report to the Site Manager and will interface with staff in the Environmental, Safety, and Quality; Cost and Schedule; and Procurement departments. The candidate should have held progressively more responsible positions in the industry. The candidate must be capable of developing construction approaches to be employed for large EPC projects including determination of scope to be self-performed and scope to be subcontracted. The candidate will support the Site Manager in recommending key staff (internal and external candidates) to support the construction efforts and in the management and development of the staff while assigned to the project. Factors to be considered in candidate selection include the following: experience on water treatment, wastewater treatment, or desalinization construction projects; a mix of experience with government and private clients; experience managing/directing union and nonunion labor; demonstrated success in managing lump sum, guaranteed fixed price, and/or cost reimbursable construction; and experience directing a multi-discipline work force as well as construction management of subcontracted scope. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to manage all aspects of a construction project including safety, quality, profit/loss, and schedule. The successful candidate will be required to provide input to aid in development of proposals, staffing plans, and work plans; work with estimators to prepare bids including cost and schedule input; and then to successfully implement the work plans. A strong background in implementing contract Ts&Cs, baseline establishment, and change management is essential. Work locations may be anywhere in the U.S. The successful candidate must be able and willing to travel extensively.
