VICE PRESIDENT - HIGHWAY & ROADWAY PROJECTS
Vice President - Highway & Roadway ProjectsTranSystems Corporation is in need of a Vice President for the design, management and pursuit of roadway and freeway projects in our Oakland, California office. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelors or Masters degree in civil engineering, be registered as a PE in California, and have 15+ years of experience in the planning and design for roadway and freeway projects with a proven track-record of winning (and successfully performing as PM) multimillion dollar design contracts with Caltrans, Counties, Turnpike Authorities and municipalities. This position will be involved with a wide variety of DOT work that requires frequent judgment and initiative with minimal supervision.Candidate will be responsible for the design and management of projects, monitoring and adhering to budgets and schedules, performing QC reviews on projects, and leading technical staff in the development of the projects. Freeway, bridge, and interchange design experience preferred. The candidate should be comfortable in working with team members involved in all modes of transportation including freight rail, transit, passenger rail, ports and shippers.In addition, candidate should also have the ability to source new clients as well as build larger relationships with existing clients. Prior executive level client relationships and business development experience a plus. A competitive personality-type and over-the-top work ethic relative to marketing is highly desired. Must be a strong leader, with strong sales, management, communication (written and oral) and technical skills. Candidate should have a strong business development background and examples of their excellent winning proposal-writing and presentation skills. Responsibilities will include: understanding and managing the client's expectations while maintaining profitability and expanding the firm's role within the client's organization; managing and directing engineering operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing project, operational, and personnel policies and procedures. Bi-lingual, (fluent English/Spanish) MSCE or MBA degrees, transit planning experience, port or airport experience, and personal relationships with other key clients within Caltrans or other responsible agencies administering highway and roadway projects a plus.Experience in Microstation and Geopak desired but AutoCAD and Softdesk will be accepted. Good oral and written communication skills are necessary and the ability to work in a design team environment essential. Qualifications/Experience/Educational Requirements: • • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.• Registered PE in California• 15+ years total experience, 5+ years of multi-project management• Business development and client relationship management experience a plus• Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Project, Access, Visio) • Excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills• Strong leadership abilities and effective written and verbal communication skills.• Experience driving a project from inception to completion by oneself, with proven disciplines.• Assessing risk, identifying solutions on how to mitigate and managing high risk areas of project development.• Ability to develop mitigation alternatives and effectively implement mid course project management changes to maintain key milestone dates. • Serving as point of escalation for issue resolution.• Leading a group of seasoned professionals to meet project objectives and overall project goals• Maintaining and revising project plans to reflect actual work, changes in scope, shortcuts, resource changes, etc.• Keeping key stakeholders updated on progress, issues and costs.• Publishing project status reports to Executive Steering Committee Team members.10+ years,A/E/P experience,Bachelor Degree,Microsoft Excel,Microsoft Word,Professional Engineer License (PE)
