Structural Steel Estimator

A local Steel Fabrication Shop is currently seeking a TALENTED, PROFESSIONAL Structural Steel Estimator. Job Summary: Perform complete project estimates for fabrication and installation of all typical structural steel elements. Estimates to include all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, general conditions and OH/Profit for a complete package. Responsibilities: ---Perform detailed quantity take-off of structural steel from client-provided drawings. ---Solicit subcontractors and/or vendors for pricing of subcontract work and buy-out items. ---Utilize estimating software program to generate costs of fabricated items. ---Provide detailed listing of inclusions and exclusions, both general and specific for each estimate. ---Review project schedule for understanding of possible schedule impacts to cost of work. ---Review project layout and location of work for understanding of means and methods of performing work in the field. ---Analyze equipment needs and determine quantity and pricing of equipment required to perform the work. ---Analyze and include costs for indirect items required to complete the project. ---Regularly monitor material pricing trends to insure that estimated material pricing is in line with market conditions. Requirements: ---High School Diploma with some college Required. DEGREE PREFFERED. ---5-7 years experience in steel estimating and related design experience. ---Understanding of structural/misc/ steel terminology and standards, typical steel shapes and sizes and fabrication and erection techniques. ---Understanding of architectural, structural, civil and landscape design documents, including both drawings and specifications. ---Strong knowledge of computeres including AutoCAD and EXCEL Required Skill/Abilities/Traits: ---Understand and accurately perform intermediate math functions. ---Able to generate professional business correspondence and reports. ---Excellent verbal communication skills. ---Prioritize and manage personal job tasks to meet deadlines. ---Available to work as needed to meet bid deadlines.
