SR. ENGINEER (3 Positions)

 

Alabama Metal Industries Corp. (AMICO) is a national manufacturer of various industrial and building products.  AMICO was established in 1939 and is headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama.  AMICO has 17 manufacturing and distribution sites in the US and Canada and is a subsidiary of Gibraltar Industries which has 75 locations.

 

AMICO is seeking candidates for three Sr. Engineers one to be located in Lafayette, Louisiana, one in Houston, TX, and one located in Birmingham, AL.  The successful candidates will have the following qualifications:

 

Job Requirements:

 

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, or Chemical), or related field and 8 – 10  years experience in engineering management.  Registration as a professional engineer required (Structural I preferred).  Multi-state jurisdiction is a plus. Knowledge of Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) preferred for Lafayette, LA. Ability to use AutoCad and MS Office suite.

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

Develop and maintain schedules for assigned projects.

 

Coordinates Scope and Pricing changes with Sales Department and the customer.

 

Design structures which includes but not limited to the sizing of beams and columns, design of connections and bracing to resist appropriate loads for the application.

 

Review quotes and sales orders for compliance to project specifications.

 

Interface with customers as a project manager as required.

 

Develop solutions for challenging field conditions while keeping safety and performance issues within acceptable/established limits.

 

Establish testing parameters in support of new designs and product development.

 

Perform data analysis of tests, field problems/failures, etc.

 

Issue Certificate of Conformance for products as required.

 

Apply the principals of value engineering to the design process.

 

Participate as an active member of the Plant Manager’s staff.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities                                            

Directly supervises Design Engineering personnel. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
