Malcolm Pirnie, Inc. is seeking a civil engineer to work as a part of our construction management team on a $2 billion water treatment plant project located in the Bronx.Candidate must have a strong knowledge of construction management practices. Will report to Lead Civil Engineer; performs engineering work in the field to support civil and concrete construction. Compiles payment quantities and reviews payment quantities with contractors and maintain payment records. Helps in planning and execution of construction work in the field; supports field procurement; performs field walk downs/inspections to review the work for conformance with design drawings; prepares punch lists and nonconformance reports; writes daily inspection reports when required. Assists in the preparation and review of requests for information and field change requests. Works with construction QC to resolve any outstanding issues; recommends best practices. Reviews concrete break reports and maintains concrete placement and cylinder break logs. Interprets engineering drawings, specifications and other documents; understands project design basis and contractual requirements; assists in monitoring construction related activities. Coordinates concrete placement activities with testing agencies. Maintains and coordinates document control functions at the Site. The ideal candidate shall have a minimum of 5-6 years experience working on a construction projects in the New York City area. Candidate must have strong computer skills (Microsoft Office 2003/2007). Prior experience working for NYC Department of environmental protection is preferred. Candidate must be a team player and have excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Must be a self-starter and detail oriented with ability to resolve issues in a timely manner. B.S Civil Engineering or Construction Management degree preferred.
