Site Safety Manager
Alberici Constructors, Inc. a leading force in the construction services industry with 90 years of history and sales exceeding 1billion dollars is currently seeking a Site Safety Manager at our Volkswagen Assembly Plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This project is anticipated to begin in October 2008 and last until April 2010. This individual will have a staff of safety support personnel that will be contracted through a separate bid package that will be awarded by Volkswagen.
Site responsibilities will include:
· Establishing, overseeing and managing entire safety, health and environmental program for the building and site construction.
· Site orientations and documentation including drug testing.
· Holding weekly safety representative meetings to address program deficiencies overall and conduct organized, documented weekly group inspections of the site.
· Photographs and narrative will be produced during these walk-through inspections to track trends and assess deficiencies in the site-specific safety programs.
· Deficiencies will be addressed with the Project Manager and the responsible party (subcontractor), and a corrective action plan developed.
· Follow up any subcontractor deficiencies in weekly coordination meetings.
· Assure all critical lift parameters are followed and appropriate paperwork submitted prior to the critical lift, and upon completion of the critical pick, paperwork turned in and filed.
· Review all confined space entry permits and trenching and excavation permits.
· Attend scheduling/planning meetings to determine upcoming critical activities and work with project team to develop appropriate pre-task plans.
· Work with project team to assure that the project follows LEED processes for sustainable sites (recycle/environmental/VOC’s.)
· Tracking safety documentation for items noted below:
1) Pre-task plans specific for scope of work and anticipated tasks
2) Minimum safety training required for craft personnel
3) Site-specific safety and health program and reporting requirements
4) Site-specific MSDS (updated monthly)
5) List of competent/qualified personnel (current at start of project and updated as needed)
6) Up to date (current at start of project and updated monthly) list of current drug test status
7) Up to date (current at start of project and updated monthly)list of personnel trained to operate aerial lifts, scissors lifts, lift trucks and cranes (CCO)
8) Site-specific/trade-specific orientation outline, revised as necessary
9) Up to date (updated weekly) orientation log
10) Twice-weekly tool box talks (more frequently if Owner requires)
11) Personnel trained in first aid and CPR
12) Behavioral based observations and corrective actions by Foremen through Project Director
13) Disciplinary actions
14) Accident/incident reports and near miss reports
The ideal candidate for this position will have the following qualifications:5+ years serving in the construction industry as a safety coordinator or manager on projects exceeding 12 months in length and 75M in costCurrent CPR and First Aid certificationCurrent (within past 12 months) drug testExpertise in Word and Excel programsOSHA 30 Hour (trainer course)CHST or CSP a plusLEED AP a plus
