We are seeking a qualified individual to join our team on the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Phase II LRT Build-out as a Signals Manager. Under the general direction of the AVP Systems Engineering and Integration, this position coordinates the Signal System development activities of the Systems Engineering Division.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Reviews and coordinates all issues related to the specification, design, procurement, manufacture, factory testing and pre-revenue testing of signals systems for rail transportation systems. Oversees the engineering aspects of the Systems Design Consultant pertaining to the rail signal systems. Evaluates rail signal systems during proposal stage; continuing review and evaluation through design, fabrication installation, testing and initial revenue service. Coordinates matters pertaining to signal systems with the Systems Design Consultant, DART Operations Department, Contracts Department and outside public agencies, as necessary, to resolve interface issues. Reviews test procedures and equipment requirements for testing and maintaining signal system equipment. Assists in the development of specifications for procurements of such test equipment. Assists the Assistance Vice President, Systems Engineering and Integration, in the planning, management, coordination and inspection of all signal system equipment related to design, procurement, manufacture and delivery activities. Reviews electrical, electronic, mechanical and control systems computations, designs and analyses; reviews cost estimates, reports, special studies and technical specifications as required. Coordinates Systems Design Consultant efforts in the preparation of signal systems contract documents. Designs forms in the preparation of these documents. Assists in the resolution of design, technical, interface and manufacturing issues. Oversees the construction management aspects pertaining to the signal system. Ensures coordination with other engineering and construction elements, including track, electrification, communications, vehicles, structures and stations. Reviews circuit analysis and generates modifications, quality assurance techniques and maintenance methods for electronic signal equipment or test equipment. Assists in the development of specifications for procurement of such test equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. PE registration in state of Texas preferred 12 years progressively responsible experience in signal system design, manufacture, maintenance and/or testing. High level of analytical ability is required to find solutions to complex interpersonal, technical, financial, legal, and administrative problems. Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all levels, both internal and external.
