Service Mechanics for Diesel Engines

 Seeking Service Mechanics for Diesel Engines and Generators on offshore supply boats, tugboats, offshore platforms, etc. This person repairs internal combustion engines in factory service departments or repair establishments, according to company specification charts, using machine tools, hand tools, and measuring instruments. Will work on John Deere, Caterpillar and Waukesha.  Minimum three to five years of experience.

Locations: Morgan City and Harvey

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned

Positions and bolts engine to test stand.

Tests engine to determine malfunctions, using instruments, such as vacuum gage, compression gage and exhaust gas analyzer.

Disassembles engine and cleans parts, such as cylinder heads, pistons, ring grooves, piston domes, and cylinder sleeves, using cleaning solvent, sand blasting equipment, grinders and wire brushes.

Rebores and hones cylinders, and turns and undercuts armatures according to chart tolerances, using lathes, grinders, boring and honing machines.

Repairs, replaces or adjusts parts, such as valves, valve guides, and tappets, using valve grinding machine, screwdrivers, wrenches and feeler gages.

Assembles and starts engine and adjusts carburetor and distributor to insure smooth performance. May test and repair turbo-superchargers.

Crosses 1-1/2' gangplanks with equipment up to 100 lbs.

Works in confined spaces, has to kneel, lie down, lie over and next to engines and generators to perform repairs.

Turns wrenches on engines. Performs bolt retorques up to 600 ft.-lbs. Works around live circuits up to 4160 volts/AC and 120 volts DC.

Pay Rate $20-$26 DOE
