Senior Estimator / Project Manager

We are seeking a seasoned, well-rounded Senior Estimator to provide accurate, timely, and comprehensive estimates for projects.  Specifically, the role will be responsible for identifying bid opportunities with public agencies and preparing competitive, winning bids.

 

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

· Responsible for developing and maintaining an active pipeline of work bid opportunities 

· Attend pre-bid meetings, work with the Chief Estimator to evaluate, qualify and accurately forecast bid opportunities

· Develop and manage credible and lasting relationship with agency representatives

· Assist Accounting with the monitoring and managing of account collections with public agencies

· Proactively maintain a strong understanding of the estimating market, including competitive landscape and subcontractor alignment with specific competitors

 

ESTIMATING

· Perform a site visit and thoroughly review bid approach with Estimating management, noting soils report, specifications, traffic control requirements, project phasing, construction water considerations, jobsite security, subcontractor interface issues with self-performed work, subcontractor qualifications and exclusions, equipment and manpower requirements, productions impacts, working hour restrictions, etc.

· Coordinate the engineering quantity take-off for projects with the Take Off department highlighting important details, including phasing, individual pricing quantities, etc.

· Contact subcontractors and suppliers (i.e. truckers, material providers) requesting quotes to successfully bid a project 

· Utilize estimating system to comprise an accurate budget or bid for public sector work, conferring with Field Operations on project requirements, productions, job restrictions, staffing, competitive advantages (i.e., shortest haul routes), subcontractor experience, etc.

· Work closely with Contract Administration to accurately complete public works bid proposal ensuring bid package is submitted in accordance with the public agency bidding process and timelines

· Always incorporate safety policies and procedures in the building of estimates with the goal of providing a safe, healthy work environment for all Field representatives

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering

· Estimating experience

· Understanding and working knowledge of estimating, project scheduling and take off software solutions; knowledge of HCSS, AGTEK, SureTrak, Primavera, and JD Edwards a plus

· Proficient in MS Office

· A strong, energetic work ethic to efficiently execute all duties and responsibilities

· Proven track record of bidding success and project profitability
