Senior Estimator - Civil Construction

The Office has been operating since 2000 and is centrally positioned to manage its geographical service area which includes Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC. Our core markets include multi-family residential, mixed-use, and healthcare, education (K-12 and university), commercial office, and federal government.

Job Summary Senior Estimator is primarily responsible for aiding the Vice President in the preconstruction stage of a project. The Senior Estimator is responsible for assisting the Vice President with the successful completion of the project quantity take off, cost estimate preparation and initial proposal outline.

Essential Job Functions, Duties and Responsibilities The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by individuals assigned to this position.  1. Preparation of quantity take-off using computer aided take off software.

2. Preparation of cost estimate using MS Excel software3. Preparation of initial draft proposal using MS Word software.4. Assist the Vice President in the solicitation of material and subcontract pricing. 5. Review drawing changes and update estimates accordingly. 6. Possess working knowledge of all project plans, specifications, and contract with Owner, subcontracts, purchase orders, daily correspondence, shop drawings, submittals, and all other project related documents and incorporate in estimate. 7. Support and implement the company’s Project Success Planning processes. General Background and Minimum Requirements 1. Must have familiarity with bidding as a subcontractor in the Washington DC commercial construction Market. 2. Minimum of 5 years of civil construction estimating experience. 3. Ability in these areas: interpersonal skills, computer skills, ability to communicate both written and oral. 4. Knowledge of basic PC-based programs including Agtek, scheduling and spreadsheet applications.
