Senior Civil Engineer / Civil Engineer
Ceres Environmental Services, Inc. is a leading disaster recovery (natural and man-made disasters) and construction company. The company was founded in St. Paul, Minnesota 30 years ago and has grown to be one of the largest companies in its industry. The company has recently finished a $500 million contract by the U.S. Government for Hurricane Katrina recovery work. Ceres also has many pre-position contracts valued up to $100 million each in various regions, on which task orders can be issued in the event of a disaster in a given area.
The company is headquartered in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota with offices in Florida, Texas, California, Louisiana along with a wholly-owned, affiliated company located in Puerto Rico.
Currently, the company seeks a highly skilled Civil Engineer with a high energy level and with a successful work history.
Duties/Responsibilities:Prepare/Oversee engineering design by collecting and studying reports, maps, drawings, and blueprints. Determine project costs by calculating labor, material, and related costs. Prepare feasibility study by analyzing engineering design which may require generating issue specific reports and assembling data for review. Prepare engineering documents in accordance with construction specifications, plans, and schedules. Confirm adherence to all construction specifications and safety standards by monitoring project progress; inspection of construction site; verification of calculations and placements. Provide necessary training and guidance to construction site workers. Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests. Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforce adherence to requirements; advise project managers on needed actions.
Skills/Requirements:B.S. degree in Civil Engineering. 3+ years Supervisory Experience a plus. Utility, sewer, or earthwork experience a plus.Able to understand and read blueprints. Excellent working knowledge of MS Excel and Access. Basic understanding or willingness to learn regulatory environmental and local standards, construction codes, and specifications. Excellent verbal and written communication, decision making, and mechanical aptitude. Ability to work and communicate/interface on site with U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, subcontractors, and other officials/people as necessary.
