Safety Manager

We are a leading Mechanical Contracting Company located in the NY Metropolitan area.  We work for developers, architects, general contractors, construction managers, and many 'Fortune 500' companies. Our projects include commercial buildings, warehouses, data centers/ telecommunication facilities, hospitals, cogeneration plants and more. 

 

We are currently seeking  a Safety Manager who will be responsible for planning, directing, and organizing safety programs which will ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free working environment. 

 

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

· Planning, writing and implementing safety policies and procedures in compliance with company, local, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules, regulations and policy.

· Planning and implementing programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials.

· Preparing studies and analyses of industrial accident causes and hazards to health for use by company personnel and outside agencies.

· Conducting safety inspections at all job sites and home office to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determining corrective or preventative measures where indicated, performing follow up exercises to ensure measures have been implemented and reporting results to management

· Leading the investigation of accidents and injuries, cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits and insurance investigations.

· Compiling and submitting accident reports required by corporate and regulatory agencies.

· Conducting root cause investigations and analysis, and ensuring jobsite compliance with company and corporate policies and procedures. 

· Maintaining and improving current ZAP (Zero Accident Program) reward and incentive program.

· Working directly with the ISO committee to support certification.

 

The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of construction safety experience, preferably in the role of a Subcontractor vs. a General Contractor or Owner.  Strong communication, organizational, influencing, leadership, and multi-tasking skills; knowledge of NFPA 70E Standards and Practices.  Knowledge of Risk Management concepts is a plus.  Must also have a Bachelor’s degree and/or the following Certifications:

· OSHA Construction Outreach Trainer, authorized to conduct 10 and 30 hour.

· First Aid and CPR

· Confined Space Entry Rescue & Emergency Services

· 8 Hour Hazardous Waste Site Supervisor
