Previously the commercial construction division of Dallas-based Centex Corporation, we were acquired by Balfour Beatty in March 2007. SummaryThe Project Risk Analyst plays a key role in implementing the project risk mitigation process and supports the efforts of the financial services organization at the division and the Divisional Controller. Key roles and activities include the following: provide financial analysis, evaluate the physical and financial performance of individual sub contracts, implementation and follow up on risk mitigation requirements, prepare risk reports and assist in training and mentoring personnel responsible for implementing risk mitigation plans.Essential FunctionsReviews and analyzes subcontractor and vendor billings and performance.Interviews subcontractor management and reviews/analyzes Subcontractor Financial Statements.Establishes lines of communication with lower tier vendors to support review findings.Provides input in establishing Risk Mitigation packages for newly awarded subcontracts and purchase orders.Documents construction progress through communication with field staff.Documents billing status for all subcontractors and vendors reviewed.Ensures compliance with required risk mitigation plans.Ensures compliance with accounting policies and procedures and internal controls. Reviews retainage requests prior to release to subs.Travels to project sites or subcontractor facilities on a regular basis (50% of time).Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned. Education, Experience, and KnowledgeBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance plus five years related experience.Experience in the construction industry with an emphasis on subcontractors is preferred. Experience working in Finance/Accounting for a subcontractor is preferred. Demonstrates proficiency using a personal computer (PC) and company communication tools, such as email, internet, and Microsoft products (e.g., Word, Excel, Office, Outlook,), including databases and accounting applicationsAbility to understand financial statements, credit analysis, and banking arrangements.Able to make decisions under tight deadlines, occasionally in the face of incomplete information.Able to put others at ease and establish rapport; relate to all kinds of people at all levels inside and outside the organization.Able to use time effectively based on key priorities and pursue everything with energy and a need to finish.Able to write clearly and concisely in a variety of communication settings.Strong attention to detail and accuracy is vital for success.Trustworthy with highly sensitive and confidential information.Provide direct and constructive feedback to others; willing to face conflict.Able to get things done through formal and informal networks.Able to patiently hear people out, listen and check before acting.Committed to improving skills; gain insights from mistakes, open to change and learn quickly when faced with new challenges.Able to organize people, tools, equipment, and other resources and orchestrate multiple activities to accomplish desired results.Act in a manner of integrity that shows support for the company, it values, and the employees while maintaining a constant focus on meeting/exceeding customer requirements and expectations.
