Project Manager for National Concrete Supplier

PROJECT MANAGER POSITION

 

This position involves the overall management of an on-site batch plant operation, primarily for an individual project. This position has the ultimate responsibility to carry forward the companies policies and procedures for an effective batch plant operation.

Directly reports to: Champion Concrete’s Vice President and Business Unit Manager at corporate home office. Physical location of job is Port Arthur, Texas on the site of the Motiva Port Arthur Refinery.

Directly oversees on-site supervisors: Assistant Project Manager, QA/QC Technicians, Batch Plant Operators, Maintenance Supervisor, Driver Foreman and Safety Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prioritizes supervisors and foreman’s activities on a daily and weekly basis. Communicates effectively the short term and long term goals to those direct reports.

Oversees the on-site safety procedures and policies are being adhered to and all proper paperwork has been completed and accurately filed.

Works directly with the onsite management and placing contractors to develop schedules both long range and short term.

Attends meetings with on site management (Owner and Contractor) and relays information back to home office.

Oversees the QA/QC operations and understand the processes involved and ensures the paperwork is being filed properly.

Oversees and assists the Assistant Project Manager with inventory tracking and scheduling.

Reviews, understands and assists the maintenance supervisor with plant equipment and rolling fleet maintenance.

Assists Batch Plant Operators with daily scheduling and troubleshooting.

Visits pour sites to ensure placement activities are proceeding as planned.

Oversees the coordination of the supplier and vendor supply chain both short term and long term.

In cooperation with supervisors, inspects plant and rolling equipment and corrects deficiencies.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

Must have concrete batch plant experience (Central Mix and Transit Mix experience preferred).

Able to attend meetings, communicate effectively in those meetings and effectively carry forward the direction given.

Some computer batching and basic computer skills.

Must be a problem solver and be able to make sound judgment calls under pressure.

Must be able to perform mathematical function pertaining to volumes, quantities, etc.

Has a general working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

6-14 hours per day, 4-6 days per week and occasional night or weekend specific responsibilities.

On site office and must understand on-site rules and restrictions.

Can occasionally be a physically demanding position with bending, climbing and stretching activities.
