Landfill Gas Technician

General: Innovative Energy Systems of Oakfield, New York a leader in the development and operation of Landfill Gas to Energy Power Plants is currently seeking a Gas Technician with experience in operating and maintaining landfill gas collection systems or with the background and capability to be trained for the position. This position reports to the Regional Manager and is responsible primarily for the operation and maintenance of landfill gas collection systems, as well as assistance at IES Power Plants.

Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned and may vary.

Ø      Properly operate and maintain gas collection system on a timely and cost effective basis in order to achieve minimum performance standards

Ø      Monthly wellfield monitoring

Ø      Liquid level measurements in gas extraction wells

Ø      Pneumatic pump cleaning / maintenance

Ø      Wellfield maintenance

Ø      Daily preventative maintenance / HDPE pipe welding

Ø      Routine blower / flare operations

Ø      Landfill Gas condensate management system maintenance

Ø      Downloading of wellfield monitoring data verification of NSPS compliance

 

The following items shall also be performed as necessary to assist the Plant Managers:

Ø      Be available for on call

Ø      Assist in determining the schedule and plant shut downs to minimize downtime

Ø      Assist with wellfield construction and maintenance

Ø      Follow all safety rules and regulations

Ø      Keep plant and grounds neat and organized

 

Qualifications:

Preferred applicants should have landfill gas collection system experience with a minimum of high school diploma. Applicants requiring training will be considered if they have previous with a Construction, Environmental or Civil Engineering experience.

Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required:

Ø      Basic understanding of environmental regulations which affect the operation and compliance of landfill gas management systems

Ø      Basic computer skills

Ø      Understanding of health and safety landfill gas issues

Ø      Mechanical - technical aptitude

Ø      Familiarity with landfill gas instrumentation and wellfield tuning activities
