Journeyman Sheet Metal
JOB SUMMARY: Journeyman Sheet Metal worker will over see the plans, lay out, fabrication, assembly, installation, and repair of sheet metal parts, equipment, and products by performing the essential duties and responsibilities of the job.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Read and interpret blueprints, sketches or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling and installing sheet metal products
-Knowledge of metals and type of sheet metals such as galvanzied iron, copper, steel or aluminum or nonmetallic material such as plastics or fiberglass, acording to product specifications
-Lay out and marking of dimensions and reference lines on material to develop and trace patterns of product or parts or uses templates
-Set up and operation of fabricating machines such as shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls and routers to cut, bend, block and form or straighten materials
-Shaping of metal material over anvil, block or other form
-Trimming, filing, grinding, deburring buffing and smoothing surfaces
-Welding, soldering, bolting, riveting, screwing, clipping, caulking or bonding component parts to assemble products
-Installing assemblies in supportive framework according to blueprints
-Plans and prepares production schedules
-Overtime, out of town and work in other trades as needed
-Assist or run field jobs when required
QUALFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
-High School Diploma or equivalent
-Minimum 4 years on the job experience
-Journeyman License highly desireable
-Valid driver's license and good driving record
-Overtime, out of town and work in other trades as needed
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
-Bending, lifting, kneeling, squatting, climbing and working in heights are routine aspects of the job
-Working conditions are on occasion extremely disagreeable
-Shop and field environment
