Human Resources Specialist
Job Purpose:
Supports Human Resources department by screening and interviewing applicants, orienting new employees, processing all new hire paperwork, preparing payroll, administering employee benefit programs and other duties as assigned.
Duties:
* Provides job candidates by screening, interviewing, and testing applicants; maintaining personnel records; obtaining temporary staff from agencies.
* Administers medical insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, disability programs, 401K, by advising employees of eligibility; providing application information; helping with form completion; verifying submission; notifying employees of approvals.
* Maintains human resources records by recording new hires, transfers, terminations, changes in job classifications, merit increases; tracking vacation, sick, and personal time.
* Orients new employees by providing orientation information packets; review and administer company policies; gathering withholding and other payroll information; explaining and obtaining signatures for benefit programs.
* Documents human resource actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.
* Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.
* Accomplishes human resource department and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
* Pays employees by calculating pay; commissions; distributing checks; maintaining records. Deductions for union dues, garnishes, pre-tax medical.
* Monitors unemployment claims by reviewing claims; substantiating documentation; requesting legal counsel review.
* Workers compensation policies; payments; audits; claims.
* Union Reports; calculation and payment.
