Mueller Service Company – Field Service Technician

Starting Pay Range:  $16.00 - $20.00/hour



Mueller Service Company, a division of Mueller Co. and Arizona’s leading contractor for repair and maintenance of potable water distribution systems, has an immediate opening for a Field Service Technician.  The Field Service Technician will complete projects throughout Phoenix and the surrounding region.  This additional Field Service Technician position is being created due to continued growth for Mueller Service Company.  

This non-exempt hourly position will have the responsibility of working as part of a team that performs fire hydrant testing, repair, and maintenance as well as valve exercising and underground utility construction work for various established utilities and municipalities throughout Phoenix and the surrounding area.  This position has no supervisor authority.  The Field Service Technician position will report to the Arizona Regional Manager within Mueller Service Company.  A competitive hourly wage company and full benefit offerings make for a well-rounded total package for the right individual.   

Duties will include, but not be limited to, the following:   

·        Test and repair fire hydrants and valves as a part of a contract service for various municipalities.    

·        Replace/Install new fire hydrants and valves. 

·        Review underground locate dig tickets and verify the accuracy of them at time of excavation.

·        Ensure that all work is being performed as described in the standard operating procedures.

·        Transport and operate powered equipment needed to perform tasks.

·        Maintain tools, equipment and vehicles in order to limit down time.

·        Report daily work to the Regional Manager. 

 

 Required Qualifications:

·        A minimum of two (2) years experience in a construction or underground utilities laborer position. 

·        Valid driver’s license with no major violations.

·        Must have the ability to obtain a Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within an agreed period of time (if not in possession of this license already).

·        Ability to routinely travel around Phoenix and the surrounding area for work assignments

·        Ability and willingness to work in confined spaces and/or underground work locations.

·        Must be able to lift in excess of 50 lbs. to maneuver parts, equipment, and tools on an as-needed basis.   

·        Must be able to work overtime on an as-needed basis. 

 

Desired Qualifications:

·        Five (5+) or more years experience in the underground utility, water distribution, maintenance, or servicing industry or related field (construction, piping, etc.).

·        Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

·        Backhoe experience.

·        Work experience with Trimble GPS Pathfinder equipment, particularly ProXT and/or ProXH receiver devices.

Primary work hours will be Monday through Friday.  Work hours will vary based on current projects, but will generally have a start time between 6:00 – 7:00 a.m. and ending times between 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.  This position is hourly non-exempt and does qualify for overtime pay.
