Field Operations Construction Supervisor
Nicor Gas is one of the nation's largest gas distribution companies. The company serves more than two million customers in a service territory that encompasses most of the northern third of Illinois, excluding the city of Chicago.
The Field Operations Supervisor involves direct supervision of bargaining unit employees involving their daily activities in order to meet compliance deadlines, comply with construction specifications, satisfy internal/external customer needs and expectations. Support departmental goals by operating within budget limits, safety targets, and designated key performance indicators.
Position Responsibilities:
• Coaching and developing staff, direct and indirect reports. Performance evaluations, reactive problem solving, labor relations, system issues
• Develop and communicate departmental and corporate initiatives and directives. Includes training, coaching and discipline
• Direct supervision of facility installations and repairs while creating a safe working environment
• Respond to emergency calls including after hours duty responsibilities
• Assist manager in developing and maintaining field operating expense and capital budgets
• Monitor compliance activities and other workload related issues. Includes developing man hour schedules that support timely completion of compliance work
• Customer contact/satisfaction
• Monitor and operate within OO&M budget, by establishing a good working relationship with Workload Administration
Required Degree(s), Skills and Experience:
• 1-3 years minimum experience
• High school diploma required
• Previous construction background
• Good verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Degree(s), Skills and Experience:
• Natural gas or public utility experience
• Good computer skills in Office Suite (Excel, Word)
• Good customer service skills
• Ability to organize and prioritize
