FIELD SAFETY OFFICER

Hudson, WI

 

***The successful candidate must enjoy travel, as this position will require 50%+ travel in a multi-state region***

 

***The successful candidate will also have a Safety background (not Environmental Health and Safety)***

 

This position establishes and promotes the maintenance of a safe, accident free, and healthy work environment.  Other responsibilities:

- Participates in the implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive safety program.
- Lead by fostering Behavior Based Safety activities in regional area of responsibility.
- Investigates incidents, prepares report of findings, and recommends corrective action.
- Insures that field operations comply with OSHA, DOT and AAR and other applicable regulations.
- Investigates incidents, prepares report of findings, and recommends corrective action.
- Audits facilities to detect existing or potential safety and health hazards and recommends corrective or preventative measures where indicated.
- Conducts site surveys to determine safe limits exposure to materials or conditions such as temperatures, noise, dusts, fumes, vapors, mists, gases and solvents which are known or suspected of being real or potential determents of health.
- Capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered.
- Independently performs most assignments with instructions as to the general results expected.  May receive technical guidance on unusual or highly complex problems through supervisor or other senior colleagues.
- Implements or recommends control measures of exposure to hazardous material or conditions.
- Provides technical guidance to management, labor organizations, and civic groups regarding health related problems such as the correct use of personal protective clothing, respiratory protection and accessories.
- Applies accepted Industrial Hygiene principles on project assignments that are comprehensive in nature and require some independent judgment and action.  These projects include areas such as air/ventilation, asbestos, water analysis, industrial hygiene audits, indoor quality studies, etc.
- Contributes to new curriculum development as requested.
- Develops, coordinates, and instructs personnel in applicable OSHA, DOT, AAR and state and local regulations and company safety policies and procedures.
- Sets up and maintains training facilities, equipment and materials.
- Assists in developing new training courses associated with the introduction of new courses or services.
- Studies and develops skill in use of better teaching and training methods.  Keeps informed on new developments in OSHA, DOT and AAR regulations.
- Maintains safety files and records.  Completes all required forms and paperwork
- Participate in development of long-term strategies intended to reduce risk for the organization and its employees.
- Performs other incidental and related duties as required.
