Environmental Engineer Director

McKissack & McKissack of Washington, Inc., an architecture, environmental engineering and program management firm, has an immediate opening for a Vice President of Environmental Engineering to lead daily department operations and supervise staff to ensure client satisfaction.  The successful candidate for this position will have  experience in the design and construction industry and be very knowledgeable of the Washington, DC regional marketplace, particularly as it relates to the water and waste water sector.  Requirements for the position include:

 

▪  Degree in Engineering, with environmental being the desired discipline.

▪  REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER MANDATORY.

▪  FIFTEEN (15)

▪ OR MORE YEARS of primary experience in large federal or municipal WATER (DRINKING) AND WASTEWATER (SEWAGE) installations and distribution systems, with particular emphasis on program management initiatives.

▪  A highly organized and detailed-oriented team player.

▪  Provides day-to-day supervision to Project Managers or technical staff, to include client invoicing, employee timesheet verification and client invoice tracking.

▪  Demonstrated ability to work independently, with experience managing multiple programs and staff at multiple locations.

▪  Serves as the “gatekeeper” for quality control standards and timely resolution of issues, which may impact contract obligations or profitability of a project.

▪  Experience and demonstrated success in business development and marketing.

▪  Experience with government contracts (municipal and/or federal), including: proposal preparation and contract negotiations for contract awards, task orders, change orders, and preparation of invoices. 

▪  Experience with cost estimating, schedule development and monitoring, and document control.

▪  Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.

▪  Computer literate.

▪  Experience with financial tracking, subconsultant agreements and contract close-out.

▪  Participates in long- and short-range strategic planning sessions, evaluation of staff skills and recruitment of employees.
