Director of Logistics and Warehousing
Successful Infrastructure Company, part of a 3.5 billion global corporation, based in Northern, NJ is seeking a self starter with great leadership skills to help drive significant changes in our logistics and distribution functions.
The selected candidate will oversee logistical field operations; distribution, transportation and service-related components in our East & West US, Canada, Caribbean and Mexico regions. The Director of Logistics will help develop strategy and then make it happen. With a focus on costs, service levels, and team leadership across the region network, will manage significant change – while ensuring our day-to-day operations continue to run smoothly and are aligned with our overall corporate supply chain strategies.
ResponsibilitiesMaximizing the utilization of rental inventory while rationalizing and minimizing freight cost within the bounds of assuring that customers needs can be met based on strategic plans, contracts and commitments.Develop and mentor staff and plant logistics personnel, including training, ethical conduct, personal development, evaluation and career planning as appropriate.Foster team approach to logistics function, balancing field and headquarters resources to achieve corporate objectives. Lead or participate in special projects in support of corporate initiatives and programs in logistics and related areas. Develop and implement opportunities for process improvement, cost savings, leverage of technology, and improved service within the distribution network. Oversee and participate in negotiations with outsource distribution providers (freight companies) to enhance overall logistics objectives and customer satisfaction. Manage the development of technological improvement through implementation, enhancement, and maintenance of software tools and technology, creating or ensuring best practice evolution. Supervise logistics system analysis for problem resolution, efficiency, and improved distribution processes. Supervise demand planning and forecasting initiatives to enhance operating efficiencies and inventory management.
QualificationBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Masters degree (MBA) helpful. Experience with and/or demonstrated knowledge of current supply chain strategies, systems and processes including WMS, MRP, DRP, MRPII, ERP, TMS and CRM. Demonstrated record of successful project management in the area of logistics operations and business support systems. Experience in multi-facility operations, including transportation, distribution, inventory management, and customer service. Demonstrated history in managing professional level staff of three or more direct reports. Seven to ten years of experience in both distribution and transportation operations, including warehousing, logistics, forecasting, and inventory management.Three years in a management capacity overseeing multiple sites or a single high complex siteExperience managing though metrics and or KPIs.Experice in the construction industry a Plus.
