Desktop Specialist & Network Technician

Position Function:

The Desktop Technician’s role is to provide a single point of contact for end-users to receive support and maintenance within the organization’s desktop and laptop computing environment. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all PC hardware and equipment to ensure optimal workstation performance. The person will also troubleshoot problem areas (in person, by telephone, or via e-mail) in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end-user assistance where required. This position reports to the Director of Information Technology.

Typical Duties: Desktop operations support including: set-ups, maintenance and upgrades. Provide training to end users. Use and provide input to trouble ticket system. Stay up-to-date on latest desktop technology. Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for desktop support. Assist with video conference setups. Assist new jobsite setups, Blackberry and Treo phone support.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualification & Experience

A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent work experience is required. Must have experience with at least two to five years experience in desktop and laptop support. Knowledge of HP and Ricoh printers and network scanners a plus.
