Construction Manager -- Wind Industry
JOB TITLE: Construction Manager EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Regular Employee-Exempt REPORTS TO: Senior Construction Manager DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manage projects from early pre-construction phase to completion and final acceptance, including but not limited to: Manage the planning, design and delivery of the project. Evaluate and determine appropriate construction methods and the most cost-effective plan and schedule. Coordinate all onsite activities including but not limited to Fleet Services activities, i.e., receiving inspections, commissioning, and testing. Monitor effective administration of construction contracts for the engineering, procurement and construction of projects Monitor effective administration of the on-site QA/QC and Safety programs Effectively process and administered changes (change management) Work with the balance of plant contractor to coordinate design/build work Maintain project schedule, budget and field reports. Assist in the enforcement of budget and schedule controls throughout the project, as appropriate. Track and control construction cost against the project budget to avoid overruns. Work with the PM to maintain updated project economics and other project information. Prepare and periodical present reports to the PM Maintain expert knowledge of the Clipper turbine Facilitate site visits. Experience and Qualifications: Experience in wind project management strongly desired; minimum requirements: 3 years in related construction management or project engineering, management responsibility for projects over $10M. Well-developed construction management skills. Strong interest in renewable energy. Good interpersonal, written, analytical, and quantitative skills. Ability to understand a variety of subjects related to wind energy, including meteorology, ecology, transmission, public relations, public policy, sales, civil and electrical engineering, etc. Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to work well in a relatively unstructured work environment with little supervision. Detail-oriented and self-motivated high achiever with ability to multi-task, commitment to producing high-quality work, and facility to learn complex material. Ability to perform duties in a collaborative working environment. Ability to travel and work overtime on short notice. Equivalent experience with material handling, assessment of construction requirements, electrical system layout, civil and electrical design. Able to work with clients, consultants, local governmental agencies, land owners and other experts; positive, supportive member of Clipper team Skilled in use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Xmap and MS Project. Travel: Extensive. Would involve visits to prospective and existing project sites. Expected travel will be two weeks per month, determined by projects requirements, heavier periodically. Whenever practical, Development Project Management will be required to visit our Denver and/or California office's to interface with other members of our team. Training Period: Immediately following employment start date, the Construction Manager will coordinate with the Project Management to arrange a Training Period to be conducted at a location TBD. The Training Period will nominally be scheduled for two weeks to one month to work directly with Project Manager and other staff.
