CONSTRUCTION MANAGER II

JOB SUMMARY: Plans, administers and oversees the administration of all phases of the construction project cycle.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: May include but not limited to the following:

• Supervise, provide guidance to, and coordinate efforts of the planning, design and construction management activities, assigned personnel and subconsultants • Develops procedures for monitoring the progression of planning, design and construction phases • Monitors project and staff to ensure that project is progressing according to established procedures and cost, time and quality objectives • Interfaces with project designer and contractor on meetings, schedules and issues and to ensure that procedures are followed • Prepares reports for management or client indicating procedure adherence and project progress • Ensures periodic inspection of construction activities and compiles noncompliance reports as appropriate• Ensures that contractor is in compliance with project plans and specifications • Monitors quality of work done by contractor and quality of materials used on-site • Evaluates progress of each project phase to determine if time schedules and cost objectives are being met • Administers information document flow from and to designer and contractor, and ensures timely appropriate responses and actions accordingly • Administers change order process and claims process with contracted parties and ensures sound contract management practices are employed • Strives to ensure project time and cost objectives are met • Assist in marketing and participate in project acquisition • Train, mentor and develop staff • Maximize profit while minimizing risk • Implement and follow DMJMH+N Quality Assurance Program procedures and DMJMH+N Management PM/CM Manual EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in related subject or equivalent experience. Certification, registration, or licensing desirable or required if applicable to type of work.

 

EXPERIENCE: Incumbent generally has over 10 years of K-12 experience, including field experience and 5 years in a supervisory role. Incumbent has generally managed mid-level sized projects.

SUPERVISORY SKILLS: Provides direction and guidance to staff members of varied functions.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY: Decisions made with understanding of procedures, professional standards, company policies, and business practices to achieve general results and deadlines. Responsible for setting work unit and/or project deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to department.
