DUBAI IS LITERALLY OVER THE TOP

Surf here before reading my ad. You just won’t believe this:

Our Client

Our client is the largest private master developer in the Middle East. With nearly half a billion sq/ft of projects under development, the enormity of their existing holdings and current developments are mind boggling and hard to grasp in comparison with any hi-end development currently under progress in the USA . They market luxury accommodation to very high end clients from around the world. Their arena is one of newness, modernity, latest trends, evolving entertainment hub, sun, skiing (yes, skiing in the desert) and creative real estate themes and designs equaled nowhere else on the planet. The world is coming to Dubai, take a look.

Go to http://www.dubai.com and surf around from there. Rarely in your career will you get a chance to be part of something like this again.

The Projects

We have been asked to assist in staffing our client’s current range of developments, to provide projects, marketing and operational staff, for a complete program of about 80 high-rise/luxury residential towers. The average project is about 40 to 50 stories with budgets per building in the $50 Million to $250 Million range. For persons interested in project management positions, pleas note the each building when permitted is handed off to a local GC with whom you would then interface as part of our client’s team. We are not seeking builders; we are seeking project managers.

The Dubai Attitude

The attitude towards progress and commerce in Dubai and the UAE in general is one predisposed to rapid economic growth and social advancement. For those of you acquainted with the snail-paced permitting process and the plethora of oversight agencies here in the USA (particularly in the NE areas) you will find the working environment stimulating, refreshing and fast paced. Government agencies here are geared to helping in matters of oversight, procurement, immigration and general assistance. In short, you might be about to experience a working environment to make your head spin, an experience to enhance your resume for the rest of your life.

Contracts, Visa’s, Accommodation etc

The typical employment contract in Dubai is 3 years. Vacation time is 22 days, which if taken in a block, to include weekends amounts to 30 consecutive days. Visas are granted on a fast track process. The typical hiring process with our client gets completed in 6 to 8 weeks. Accommodation in general is similar to east and west coast rentals, but the range is wide so one can dwell in whatever standard one chooses. There is also the option of commuting to and from nearby towns, greatly reducing rents but increasing commute time. Check out this Gulf News real estate site http://www.gnads4u.com/properties

Work Standards

In one of the fastest paced work places on earth, standard are high. Those who have worked in China will notice immediately the difference in standards and attitude in Dubai. Construction standards are in general British, whilst Fire and Mechanicals tend to be USA (NFPA). As the program is so high end, with the end users being financially in the top 5% of society, quality, standards, guarantees and customer service must equal, if not surpass the levels we are familiar with in the USA.

High Rise and Degree

The two prerequisites we need state before proceeding is that you must have hi-rise experience and a relevant degree or diploma. And, no matter how successful, horizontal builders can not be considered. Overseas experience, whilst desirable, is not imperative. Also, persons with experience on the GC side may be considered, if they can demonstrate they have had experience in the past representing the owners side.

We want to hear from:Assistant Project Managers Quantity Surveyors Architects (high rise and/or spectacular buildings) Urban Planning Managers (software experience a must) Project Managers (interface with GC’ on 1 or 2 projects simultaneously) Development Managers (pure pre con) Commercial Manager (interact between building completion and buyers) Vice President of  Projects / Development ( If this is you, you know what you do)

Salaries

Our client understands that to attract top talent, they must be competitive and then some. However the true value of a good construction professional can only be ascertained by matching the candidate against the position. Obviously a PM who built one hi-rise would command a different salary than someone who had taken multiple ones over the finish line. If you are interested in exploring this opportunity, we can quickly advise you of what we perceive your value to be based on your resume, project list and experience.

The Drill

So, here’s what we do. You sit down and have a good think about this. Then, should you figure that working in Dubai would be a major plus in your career path, go ahead and apply on-line.

Upon reviewing your application, and determining a match, we will contact you directly and commence the process. The process will require you to furnish the following:Resume, it doesn’t have to be all hi-rise but please hi-lite any relevant hi-rise experience. Project list, this is imperative. State the project, your role in it, its size, and value and, if possible some photos of those projects. References relating to Hi Rise experience. (especially references from owners) Cover letter stating your availability, salary requirements and the length of time you could commit to working in Dubai (the contracts are usually 3 years). In this, tell us in detail exactly how much experience you have that might add value to my client.

In Conclusion

Thanks for reading our ad. I know it’s long but we tried to give you a flavor of the total Dubai package. If you are interested, please apply on-line, and my client and I will help you with any further questions. This is one of the most exciting opportunities in the world right now and my client is looking for world class construction execs. Is this you?  Also, I would appreciate it if you could circulate this ad to anyone you might think would be a candidate. In the immortal words of the great Yogi Berra, “you can sum it up in one word, you never know”

Do good work.

Colm
