Business Development Manager- Mining
JOB SUMMARY
The responsibilities of the “Business Development Manager– Mining” include identifying, negotiating and managing strategic relationships with mining customers, OEMS, and technology providers serving the mining industry that result in revenues and partnerships.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify customer needs and match to appropriate applications of company technology
· Understand the scope and priority of customer’s business problems
· Identify opportunities to apply company technology to solve said problems
· Work with customer to identify business case and ROI
Follows the company’s Proposal Process:Submits RFPs from current or potential customers for bid or bid opportunityInitiates an immediate response with a contact date for the RFPSubmits prepared draft RFPs to manager for review and approval or rejection
Develop customer proposalsCaptures customer’s bid proposal requirementsDefines project scope and identifies possible risksCreates Statement of Work documents and quote documentsCreates a project schedule including levels of effort and major tasksCollaborates with the appropriate Project Manager to create project budgetUtilizes the “budget tool” to define preliminary budget figures, project milestones, and invoicing schedulesSeeks RFP approval from VP of Engineering or CEO for every project prior to release of RFP to customerSends RFP response to requesting customer or potential customerCoordinates project process with project team members as appropriate
CoordinationAttends appropriate review meetings to discuss, update, and revise RFPs in process.Presents up-to-date progress reports on all outstanding RFPsMaintains record of sales activity in Salesforce.com
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, JOB SKILLS
· Requires a bachelor degree in business, finance, marketing, mining engineering, or relevant field
· 4+ years of experience in sales or business development related areas in the mining industry
· Familiar with a variety of sales concepts, practices, and processes
· Relies heavily on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
· A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
