BUILDING EQUIPMENT MECHANICS (TEMPORARY) - NEW HAMPSHIRE

A Building Equipment Mechanic utilizes the technical skills required to start, operate, maintain, repair, replace, and inspect building mechanical systems and associated control systems. Specific technical skills in air conditioning, heating, ventilation, plumbing, locksmith, electrical controls, air distribution and general mechanic plant maintenance are required.  A working knowledge of other craft related areas is necessary.  General Duties Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:  A.  Start, operate, repair and maintain various types of heating and air conditioning plumbing, carpentry, locksmith, electrical and other related systems equipment. B.  Review and interpret work order forms, operating instructions, electrical diagrams, building plans and mechanical equipment plans and specifications. C. Perform major repairs and replacements of mechanical plant equipment. D. Performs specialized building equipment maintenance tasks and maintain tasks logs and equipment inventories in Company owned and leased buildings. E.  Install, repair, and calibrate various makes of pneumatic and/or electric controls required for the operation of equipment and the control of temperature and humidity. F.  Maintain and repair motor controllers and associated electrical equipment and control circuits.  G. Use general and special tools, test meters, and gauges commonly used in connection with air conditioning, air handling and heating plant maintenance and other building equipment. H. Repair and maintain sump pumps and associated controls and other peripheral equipment. I.  Perform inspections and make repairs on equipment or systems as required by FAIRPOINT COMMUNICATIONS NNE Practices and/or Federal, State and local regulations and ordinances.  Post current certificates and permits as required. J.  Move and/or lift weight up to 100 pounds. K.  Care for one or more building locations. L.  Travel from one building location to another by public transportation or Company vehicle. M. Wear safety equipment and adhere to Accident Prevention Plan Guidelines. N. Assist Program Management by providing specialized knowledge on capital improvement jobs. O. Follow established safety practices and procedures. P.  Works aloft from ladders and platforms, scaffolds and in high areas. Q. The Employee may need to perform additional duties and tasks as required by the Company.  Basic Qualifications A.  Tests – Results obtained in standard tests for this position must meet minimum requirements established by the Company, in accordance with Company policy. B.  Physical Requirements - Must meet FairPoint’s medical standards for the job. C. Job Performance and Attendance Record – Satisfactory performance rating & attendance/punctuality record in present job. D. Licenses and Special Skills  - a.  Two (2) year associates degree from a technical or vocational school in ventilating, air conditioning, plumbing, electrical work and heating plant operations and maintenance.b.  Minimum of two (2) years experience in ventilating and air conditioning, plumbing, electrical work and heating plant operations and maintenance.c.  In accordance with local laws and ordinances must have a valid refrigeration license and must be able to pass and obtain a certificate of fitness for one or all of the following:  oil burner, fire standpipe, sprinkler, and air compressor operations.  All certificates of fitness must be posted in work area.   E.  Tours - Work assignments consist of 5 tours, Monday to Saturday, both inclusive.  Employees may be required to work evening and night tours on a rotational basis.  Overtime, work on holidays and on non-scheduled days will be required as needs of the business necessitate. F.  Driver’s License and Minimum Age Requirements – a.  In areas where a driver’s license is required, must obtain a Company driver’s permit after placement in this job and prior to operating a motor vehicle on Company business.  b.  Driver’s training is provided by the Company, and must be successfully completed prior to issuance of the Company permit.  c.  Ability to drive vehicles with standard transmission may be required in some locations.  Training Combined classroom and on the job training.FairPoint is an equal opportunity employer and supports workforce diversity M/F/D/V.
