Area Sales Manager - Northeast US and South America

Fortune 500 Company seeks top-notch sales profession with experience in the telecom and underground locating industry. This individual will be responsible for achieving sales targets in an assigned territory by pursuing leads, making sales calls, preparing proposals and closing sales, managing distributor relationships, identifying needs for new distributors, and negotiating contracts with distributors. ASM works in partnership with customer service and Industry Segment Managers (ISM) who are assigned to the same customer accounts to ensure fulfillment of contracts and orders. May be required to work directly with customers who purchase SPX products or with company-contracted distributors and representatives.KEY DUTIES AND ResponsibilitiesThe Area Sales Manager performs the duties listed below: Achieve Territory Sales and Profitability targets Distributor management; ensure compliance with contract terms by both parties Perform direct customer sales as required by the territory assigned and when required by customer needs Sales growth in the territory assigned with the products assigned Interface with customers, prepare and present proposals and sales and marketing support Identify the need for additional distributors and secure new distributors Negotiate contracts with new and existing distributors Prepare sales projections and plans for achieving them Identify new product and market opportunities Work with ISM’s to ensure implementation and training of customer purchases and support for distributors Work with customer service to follow up on orders to assure delivery requirements are understood by customers and met by manufacturing; monitor payment terms on orders; assist in the collection of payments Provide input to marketing programs and product development Travel as required Trade show support as necessary May be required to perform other jobs or duties as assignedSKILLS AND EXPERTISE Bachelor’s Degree 10+ years sales experience preferable Fluent in Spanish, proficient in Portuguese Excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and communication skills (both verbal and written) Self directed and able to function independently Adaptable to new computer and software technologies.SPX offers a comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental, vision, 401K with employer match, STD, Life and AD&D, FSA, vacation, and paid holidays. If interested, please submit your resume to Angela.Freitas@spx.com SPX is an EOE.
