ALTERNATIVE ENERGY CONSTRUCTION MARKETING ENGINEER: WIND AND SOLAR
We are a unique old and strong self-performing civil, structural and specialty electrical constructor that is equipped to self-perform across the full scope of site, foundation construction, erection and structural integration, electrical distribution, rectification, sub-station construction and even SCADA infrastructures that comprise an alternative energy project. Be that a wind turbine farm or acres of solar collection, we can bring clients a complete capability, and call pull it together with speed the multi-billion dollar players cannot. There is agility, flexibility, and price that the giants are not going to be able to materialize.
Our vision of you is a young engineer who has the energy plus the old-soul business acumen to learn the market, meet the players, identify the opportunities, sort out the time tables, identify the reality of the money, figure out who really controls the enterprise and then aim our overall capability at a well defined and primed opportunity.
This job is an adventure, and it will be fun to perform, lucrative, endless and is a career path that has real endurance, but is can be a minefield for a person without real focus and discipline. There are lots of people who would love to go out to lunch with you, talk to you endlessly about the banishment of carbon based fuels, and another horde who have no access to decision making, not authority and no checkbook, but are reasonably convincing as they pose. You job is to identify REAL projects in REASONABLE time frames, assess the opportunities and try to connect with decision makers who really formulate policy schedules and appropriations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The job is an active marketing job.Identify opportunities for a construction firm in wind and solar alternative energy projects.Identify all the details which include, scope, timing, status, players, bid opportunities, and even the competition. It amounts to a top down collection of all pertinent data.Identify the “owner”.Identify the key players, decision makers and assess the scope of their involvement and authority.Meet and develop lines of business and personal communication with key persons on these projects. Network, collect project intelligence, and build relationships.Introduce the company, our history, unique capacities and differentiation. In this case, relevant is real projects, with real funding, and real timetable and credible players. The ability to read people and circumstances.Discipline, drive, passion, creativity and toughness.A willingness to work hard and to work steadily.
OUR CULTURE:
We are an old company that has targeted a marketplace that is very stable (fundamental public infrastructures). We have been enormously successful at several levels. We have a number of clearly defined core competences, we have built a stable staff with exceptional expertise in these areas, we have been “rocket scientists” in terms of specially equipping our business units with tools, many of our in-house proprietary invention design and manufacture that make us more productive doing the work.
We have successfully performed the jobs we contracted to do, meeting budgets, timetables, and quality goals. We have worked safely. We are reasonable and do not use litigation as a profit center. We are a big public works contractor with a moral compass that works. We are loyal to our employees and bend over backwards to help them find themselves and their greatest success in our organization. We pay for performance. We meet our obligations to the community. We are a cherished client and pay our vendors.
I you are a young person just getting started in the business, all of this may not seem so extraordinary, but make note, IT IS.
Building a wind farm is not really rocket science. Look at what companies like Federal Express have deployed to control the simple act of the picking up and delivery of a package. They use NASA levels of technology to reliably and repeatedly execute the simple act of pick-up and delivery of packages. Our work has an engineering basis and is quite a bit more sophisticated fundamentally, but out goal is to bring every level of creativity, IT tools, proprietary production tools and management systems to jobs that have been done for decades and to do them better, faster, more predictably, at a higher level of quality and economy than the other players, just like Federal Express and their packages
We are a career company and doing this job opens opportunities in engineering, project engineering, project management and all the way up our ladder. It is a fantastically strong point of entry because this is the hottest market in the country, something we all need to survive moving forward as a country, as a population on earth, it allows for critical relationship development in key market sectors, it will expose you to the most sophisticated players in the construction world, and allows for the greatest diversity of skills development and leadership development to be applied to moving up the ladder in the company.
