As an IT Systems Engineer in the corporate IT Organization, the ideal candidate will join the team responsible for the design, implementation and optimization of all Enterprise Services at Salesforce.com. This is includes, but is not limited to: Directory Services, Messaging, Hosted Services, Monitoring, File Serving, Virtual Machines, Systems Management, Capacity Planning, and DR. The candidate must have a strong background in Messaging and Directory Services. This position will also be responsible as a technical lead in IT Infrastructure Projects that will optimize current services as well as introduce new technologies to the corporate IT environment. This position will interface daily with various engineering and operational teams, which will work together on infrastructure projects. You will proactively research and locate necessary tools and processes to identify and proactively avert troublesome trends as they develop in order to ensure stable performance for the corporate IT Enterprise environment. As part of this team, this position is responsible for Tier 3 support of all Enterprise Services, which includes identification and resolution of hardware, software, or architectural issues as well as investigating system errors and anomalies. The IT Systems Engineer will contribute to the overall success of the IT Engineering organization by providing recommendations and key insight into the technological path of corporate IT. Responsibilities: * Participate in ongoing technology evaluations * Operate as a technical subject matter expert on all Infrastructure Projects pertaining to Enterprise Services * Design and Implementation of new Enterprise Services * Optimize or Re-Design current environments as needed * Help resolve complex IT issues in a Tier 3 capacity * 24x7 coverage of our systems on a periodic basis * Formulating and implementing monitoring, policies, procedures and standards relating to Enterprise Services * Document standards, best practices and policies for all Enterprise Services * Ensure changes are tracked and controlled * Some traveling may be required Required Skills/Experience: * Bachelor's Degree * 5+ years of design/support of Enterprise environments with over 3000 users * Demonstrated ability to think and execute long-term and big-picture in an environment with a short-term focus. * Microsoft Exchange 2007: Designing, Implementing, Maintaining, Troubleshooting * Message Routing and Architectural design: Postini, MTAs, Content Filtering * Microsoft Active Directory: Designing, Implementing, Maintaining, Troubleshooting * DNS, DHCP, PKI, Print Services, File Sharing * 1+ years of virtualization experience * Directory integration with 3rd Party Applications and hosted services * Experience with mission-critical services and applications in a global enterprise environment * Customer service oriented with strong interpersonal and leadership skills * Excellent time management and prioritizing skills * Self-motivator able to take tasks or projects and run with them * Great oral and written communication skills * Ability to work well and collaborate with other teams of various skills * Strong analytical skills coupled with the ability to think outside the box Desired Skills: * Prior experience with the Salesforce.com application * Experience with Agile Development Methodology * Experience with SAAS and PAAS applications * Experience in bringing a company from a start-up to Enterprise level * One or more industry certifications Employees at salesforce.com consider their experience as defining points in their careers.
