Web and Database Application Programmer
The Protein Structure Initiative Structural Genomics Knowledgebase (PSI SGKB) project at Rutgers University has a position open for a website and database application programmer. The incumbent will work with the PSI SGKB Director and scientific staff to design, produce and maintain various project database and web services.Primary responsibilities: * Participate in the design and implementation of website and database application prototypes.* Perform object relational mapping, query design, query optimization. * Develop data import and export tools. * Integrate database services with website user interfaces. * Perform installation, maintenance and updates to existing database systems. Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline. Experience in bioinformatics, structural-biology, biology, and/or chemistry is highly desirable. * Proficiency in Java, SQL, and application development using JDBC and MySQL. * Demonstrated experience in the design and development of database systems supporting scientific applications are definite assets. * Attention to detail, customer-service orientation, and creativity in problem-solving. * Ability to work in a team and to communicate in a clear way to project staff.
