Web Application Engineer

Job Purpose: Under architect and product owner supervision, participate in the development and implementation of new on-demand analytic web products. Must be knowledgeable in Java, AJAX, XML, and web application life cycles, and have a strong desire to learn new technology.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Analyze and implement new use cases for on-demand services. Participate in joint application design sessions.
2. Must be able to effectively gather information regarding product specifications from end users and ensure product is developed to meet these criteria. Build products from existing ideas and help to develop new ideas based on experience and interaction with data analysts, business analysts and consultants.
3. Must have strong communication skills in training and implementing product with both internal and external users. Also, must possess strong organizational skills in adhering to time lines set during the product development stages.
4. Provides training to other staff.
5. Performs other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Internal Responsibilities:
§ Adheres to all company policies and procedures including, but not limited to those identified within the Standards of Business Conduct and the Employee Handbook, as may be amended from time to time. Adheres to all applicable laws and regulations and the company's governance/compliance program.
§ Responsible for reporting violations of the company's policies and procedures, Standards of Business Conduct, governance program, laws and regulations through the company's Help Line or other mechanism that may be available at the time of the violation. Assists with internal control failure remediation efforts.
§ Becomes knowledgeable of internal control responsibilities through training and instruction. Responsible and accountable for internal control performance within their area of responsibility. Participates in the internal controls self-assessment process.
§ Ensures concerns with internal control design or performance and process changes that impact internal control execution are communicated to management.
Minimum Knowledge, Competencies & Qualifications:
1. Four to five years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Bachelors Degree required.
2. Is highly skilled in the use of personal computers and related software applications, including but not limited to advanced knowledge of the following languages/platforms/products:
a. Java 1.5,
b. AJAX (YUI Toolkit significant plus),
c. WebServices,
d. XML,
e. Spring,
f. Hibernate,
g. Maven,
h. Flex 3,
i. Tomcat,
j. SQL
3. Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and is detail-oriented.
4. Able to communicate professionally, effectively and courteously, both orally and in writing.
5. Able to prioritize workload and work effectively with minimal supervision.
6. Knowledge of basic medical terminology helpful but not required.
Travel: No travel is required.
Physical Demands: Duties typically are performed in an interior, office work environment. Position involves sitting at a computer for extended periods of time. Requires manual dexterity required to operate standard office equipment including but not limited to a computer keyboard and telephone.
