Job Description Trainer (Professional Development Consultant) We are looking for a Trainer (Professional Development Consultant) on behalf of our client, Wireless Generation. This position is located in Brooklyn, NY Please contact Jenni Smith at jsmith@contractor.wgen.net Job Description: Professional Development Consultant Wireless Generation’s Professional Services team provides innovative services that empower K–12 educators to use data-driven strategies to improve student outcomes. This is the newest department in a company that has long focused on providing mobile assessment solutions to schools. WGPS seeks a Curriculum and Professional Development Consultant to provide content expertise and leadership around our new offerings. Successful candidates will have experience in providing both K-12 classroom instruction and adult professional development, preferably centered around educational technology products. They will be strong facilitators, skilled at leading training sessions as well as more consultative group meetings with educators. They will be flexible in their approach, able to react to various participant styles, environments, and technologies. Finally, they will be enthusiastic self-starters who thrive on the excitement of working with a small, mission-driven education company that strives to make a real difference in K–12 education. The training and professional development they will be providing will focus primarily on generating use and adoption of the New York City Department of Education’s new citywide Achievement Reporting and Innovation System (ARIS). Responsibilities: Conduct training for groups of 15-25 participants (e.g. teachers, coaches, data specialists, administrators, Central Office personnel) using participatory, active learning techniques Promote adoption of ARIS system through professional development experiences with various groups of educators Facilitate discussions with groups of school and district personnel to analyze data to find root causes and determine next steps to achieve better student outcomes Provide feedback to Content Development team about the effectiveness of training materials, and suggest improvements for future versions Contribute to curriculum design and training materials development between training sessions as time permitsRequirements: 5+ years work experience, including K–12 teaching, coaching, and/or administration experience Bachelors degree required Masters degree in education or adult learning preferred Experience providing training / professional development on technology products Solid understanding of adult learning principles Proven presentation skills Ability to facilitate conversation among groups of educators Excellent written and verbal English skills; written and verbal Spanish skills are a plus Enthusiasm for and comfort within fast-paced, entrepreneurial company culture Ability to grasp technical concepts quickly Fluency with MS Office suite a must; fluency with Adobe Design Creative Suite or other design programs a strong plus IMPORTANT TO NOTE Due to NYCDOE guidelines we cannot consider applicants that were employed by the NYCDOE during the 2007-2008 school year. We are happy to consider candidates that were employed by the DOE prior to the ’07-’08 school year This position begins in August Please be prepared if less than 2 years of experience or recently graduated that you may be required to provide SAT and / or college GPA scores.
