Top Downtown Manhattan Healthcare firm has an immediate need for a solid mid to senior level VB.NET programmer with a background in VB. We are experiencing a huge amount of growth & now have at least 3 full time permanent positions open for Programmer Analysts. This position offers a great base salary ($70,000-$80,000 Depending on experience) bonus, excellent benefits, & of course training & growth. The positions will consist of both Windows & Web development (Winforms & Webforms), as well as SQL Server on the database side. The ideal candidate will have experience developing VB applications before they got into .NET. A very strong background in analysis is also required. You will be working in VB.NET. The Programmer Analyst assists in the analysis and development of business requirements and interprets them into usable software or reporting solutions.

**Program Analysis

Consult with clients to gather information about program needs, objectives, functions, features, and input and output requirements. Analyze, define, and document requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, and outputs. Analyze and estimate feasibility, time, and compatibility with hardware and other programs. Analyze code to find causes of errors and revise programs.

**Program Development

Develop and maintain plans outlining steps and timetables for developing programs. Research and evaluate software and hardware to assist in programming or to use program platforms. Design and code screen layouts, graphical user interfaces, printed outputs, and interfaces with other systems. Convert designs and specifications into computer code. Create test scenarios and run tests to find errors and confirm programs meet specifications.

**Program Documentation and Review

Write and maintain technical specifications. Consult with client to prototype, refine, test, and debug programs to meet needs. Write and maintain documentation to describe program development, logic, coding, testing, changes, and corrections. Write documentation or review documentation written by others that describes installation and operating procedures. Monitor performance of programs after implementation. Follows change control procedures.

**Technical Assistance

Provide technical assistance by responding to inquiries from others regarding errors, problems, or questions about programs. Train end users or technical support staff to use programs.


SKILL SETS:

1. Minimum 2 years experience in Visual Basic .NET or a minimum of 3 years experience in Visual Basic 6 and at least 2+ years experience in Visual Basic .NET

2. Minimum 3 years experience in SQL Server database development. Experience should include knowledge of SQL Server optimization with indices, queries, views, etc. and must include experience with SQL Server database tools such as: SQL Profiler, Execution Plan, and Statistical Analysis.


3. Experience should include creating both web and client server applications. Applicant should have some knowledge of building web services/applications using some or all of the following: ASP.NET, .NET Framework, JavaScript, VBScript, AJAX, etc.

4. Experience with Visual Studio 2005 (including analysis, testing and deployment tools) and some knowledge of tools such as: MS Project, Visio, MS Office (Excel, and Word).

5. Ability to work independently and participate in review of source code (logic and syntax checking), applications, and documentation from others.

6. Excellent business communication skills (verbal and written).

7. Ability to write business correspondence and procedure manuals

8. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and Healthfirst user community

9. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

10. Ability to interpret and translate a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

11. Aptitude and willingness to learn and take direction.

12. Ability to handle consistent changes in business directives.

13. Ability to manage time in the midst of changes in priorities.
