JOB SUMMARY:  The telephony engineer will play a key role on a small team tasked with the assignment of providing application access to our telephony and communication infrastructure with the goal of achieving efficient communication and enabling new features for our customers.  As our telephony platform evolves, this engineer will have the opportunity to contribute to the design and implementation of our telephony architecture and components.  This will be an important role as the communications platform changes to accommodate and support the new functionalities that our customers are demanding.

 

The successful candidate will be able to maximize their 3+ years of telephony applications experience (i.e. Cisco, Lucent, Avaya, Voxeo, Nuance, Asterisk, FreeSWITCH, etc.) in the process of evaluating and leveraging existing products for integration into our solutions.  An engineer with a highly driven entrepreneurial spirit who is not afraid to get into the details will find this position highly rewarding since SoundBite is continuously looking to improve upon and expand our existing communications platform with a focus on quality and accuracy.

 KEY FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:Add core functionality to the SoundBite application.  This includes the design and architecture of new features and enhancing existing functionalityDevelop and improve systems-level telephony capabilities of the SoundBite product using advanced communications technologiesWork with Client Management teams to fulfill special application development requests

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  Education and Experience:

· BS in Computer Science or equivalent

· 3+ years experience with Telephony-related application development in large production and development environments

 

  Competencies and Attributes:

· Effective communication skills (verbal and written).

· Advanced skills related to Voice-Over-IP: SIP, RTP, 2833, SIP call flows, etc.

· Experience with media server integration and control protocols such as MRCP, MSCML, VoiceXML, ccXML, etc.

· Strong application development experience with Java and C++. 

· Experience with SQL, relational databases (ideally Oracle) required. 

· Experience utilizing Nuance, NMS, Dialogic, Brooktrout and/or Aculab products a strong plus.
