Title: Technical Writer #65604 Location: Waltham, MA Seasoned Technical Writer with 4+ years of experience to join a dynamic online help group. Writer will be responsible for creating and maintaining content related to Architectural/Engineering software. Candidate must have direct experience creating user-centered content for complex software applications. This position is part of a team that works closely with Product Design, Product Management, SQA, and other organizations to create highly usable and accurate user assistance. Ability to work cross-functionally and handle changing priorities essential. Prior experience with FrameMaker required. Experience working with Captivate or similar tool a plus. Primary Duties: Creates and designs user documentation that is easy to use, understand, localize, and maps to corporate strategies, new features and user issues. Defines the scope and content of the documentation required, based upon its purpose/function. Participates in feature team meetings to provide estimates on documentation impact, to present feature-specific documentation plans and accept team feedback, and to ensure that terms, messages, and concepts conform with existing documentation or can be accommodated. Works closely with developers, product designers, product managers, and test engineers to gather information for documentation. Interprets technical product information and uses appropriate style guides and authoring tools to develop written documentation targeted to user requirements. Creates/develops graphics as appropriate to enhance clarity/usability. Ensures the accuracy of the Online Help System, including navigation, table of contents, search functions, links, and expandable folders. Assists with standardization of terminology (across products) to reduce localization costs. Develops error and directional messages within applications. Reviews user interface terminology to ensure consistency and clarity as requested. Provides progress updates and revisions of time requirements to the schedule for various documentation components.
