Technical Support Engineer / Call Center Specialist

Official Payments Corporation is committed to making government payments go faster, smarter and safer.  This individual would be responsible for handling all technical support calls from clients and other departments and ascertain all the necessary steps to fulfill the request. He/she must be able to troubleshoot both hardware and software problems and be familiar with debugging software applications at the code and database level.  In addition to the above the individual would be responsible for the following:•Creates workaround procedures when standard procedures have failed and ensures issues are resolved in a timely fashion.•Escalates urgent problems requiring more in-depth knowledge to appropriate internal resources.•Tests systems against testing procedures and guidelines associated with assigned projects.•Assists in maintaining a current test and production environments.•  Assists in review and deployment of application into the production environment.•On-call support•  Occasional Travel•Ability to lift 50 pound server boxesRequirements The successful candidate will have technical support experience in a call center type environment supporting software and hardware issues.- Minimum of an Associates of Science degree (Computer Technology related degree preferred) -and/or 1 - 2 years of experience as a technical service / technical support  professional in IT environment.  - Troubleshooting skills required - Experience with debugging software applications at the code and database level.Knowledge of at least two of the following: - Visual Basic, - Java, - C++/C#, - HTML, - XML and various scripting languages.- Familiarity with the life cycle of software development.- Experience with legacy operating systems, i.e. DOS, OS/2 and Windows NT.- Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills.- Must have strong verbal communication skills and be able to work independently and in a team environment.- Ability to adapt and learn various software tools - Must be comfortable with new and emerging technologies.  An Equal Opportunity Employer, Min/Fem/Dis/Vet To apply online please visit www.jobs-tier.icims.com Refer to job # 1381For more information, see http://www.tier.com/ and http://www.officialpayments.com/
