It is often easier to locate obscure information on the World Wide Web than it is to find an email or file on your own computer. X1's mission is to make all information easily accessible. X1 is PC software that uses an advanced indexing process that lets you find any word in any email message or file on your computer, in under a second. X1 is being developed by a team based in Pasadena, but including bright programmers and business people throughout North America. The program is the brainchild of entrepreneur Bill Gross, who conceived and developed a similar product, called Lotus Magellan that was published in 1989. Several members of the original Magellan team have joined Bill to bring out X1. Bill Gross is the founder of Idealab. Idealab's mission is to turn innovative ideas into successful technology businesses.The Technical Account Manager is responsible for the technical activities that ensure clients successfully deploy the solutions they have licensed and achieve their business objectives.  After the sale, the TAM will be responsible for coordinating the deployment to ensure customer success.  This includes project management, identifying and resolving technical issues and acting as on-site representative of the company with customers during their critical going-live phase.The TAM might be called on to assist in pre-sales support as well.  Ideally, the TAM should have proven experience with soliciting business requirements, developing a technical sales strategy, and configuring and effectively demonstrating the solutions that address these requirements. Demonstrations include presentations to business and technical audiences ranging from end users to Sr. Executives using a variety of methods including Microsoft’s PowerPoint, standup “chalk talks” etc.  An individual with an entrepreneurial spirit and an appreciation for the fluid nature of a start-up environment will be well suited for this role.Specialized Knowledge/Skills:Expert knowledge in NT and Exchange and/or Lotus Notes. Strong verbal and written communications skills, a pro-active approach to problem solving and professional presentation skills are required.  Strong understanding of networking protocols and general connectivity in enterprise environments.  Excellent attention to detail and strong project management skills.  Must be able to devise a workplan and track progress against key milestones.  Able to effectively organize and coordinate with a team of people from within and outside the company.Responsibilities:•Understand, assess and propose solutions for resolving customer questions and issues during the sales process•Understand each customer's technical requirements and goals •Work in a team environment and be willing to travel to the customer locations to perform work (some international travel may required)•Provide product demonstrations•Work effectively with a cross-functional team from client, partners and X1 technical resources to resolve issues on client deployments•Work with manager to create processes to address recurring issues and create training materials for future employees in this role•May be required to spend dedicated time on site at client locationEducation/Experience •Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering discipline required•Thorough knowledge of Windows 2003 Server, Exchange and IIS •Windows/Linux server administration experience•3-5 years of technical sales, implementations or consulting experience preferred•Familiarity with LDAP/Active Directory and SMS/MSI•Familiarity with Enterprise Search or Content Management products is a plus but not required   About IdealabWhat We DoOur Working EnvironmentBenefitsCareer FAQsMore Job Openings at Idealab
